Be careful of the terms fine print--that is, if you can find them. In its advertisement for this card, Discover uses many asterisks (*) behind the terms. One of troublesome terms is the intro balance transfer fee. The problem is, if you look for an asterisk in the footnotes of the offer on the Credit Karma page, it's not there. You must go to the Discover site where you will find the intro balance transfer rate is 4%. It seems that Discover could have simply listed that on the advertisement page instead of burying it in the fine print of terms in a separate browser. Most problematic of all, when I looked at my “see savings details” link, it left out the balance transfer fees showing it as a 0. But the fees in my case would have been $100s of dollars. The other tricky term is the $150 Restaurant.com coupon. According to the terms, to use it, you'll first have to wait the 8 weeks for them to mail it after you make your first purchase. Then once you get to the restaurant, it is only good for parties of 2 or more. On top of that, a minimum restaurant purchase is required. Yet neither Discover nor Restaturant.com disclose how much that is. I spent several minutes searching for the Discover Open Roads $150 offer on Restaurant.com, but couldn't find it. Instead, as I was searching their web site, I clicked the "partners" link--thinking that Discover would be a found there. It wasn't. Instead, it was a separate site for Restaurant.com's other customers, the restaurant owners. The logo read "Restaurant.com. Building profits one table at a time." Certainly. And part of those profits will come from Discover’s Open Roads customers who are trying to redeem these certificates with the difficult to find terms. I wonder if Discover is solely responsible for the content of this offer or perhaps Credit Karma listed it and accidentally omitted all of the terms.
