Im in college full-time and work full-time. I'm now scared to attempt to apply for this card. If you need to build credit, just get an American Eagle, Sam's Club (which you can use at walmart). My score shot up 40 pts. I just want a good solid card like Discover or AXP to use from here on out. HSBC card is good, but I had having to request credit increases. Only get 300.00 at a time for some reason.

I got approved and I have absolutely no credit. I just had to confirm I was a student. Credit Karma couldn't even give me a credit score because I had nothing to base the score on, and I still got approved for this card. I'm a sophomore in college and I have no job. I would actually encourage someone who has no credit and is a student to apply for this card, for the simple fact if I can get approved, other people with no credit can also get approved. Good luck!

Denied with a score of 663. I haven't seen nobody get approved for this with something below 700

No but seriously, how does discover expect people to get approved for this card if they hardly approve anybody!!!! I got denied with a 663 Transunion, 606 Equifax, and 657 Experian. Hey you guys, maybe it has something to do with Innovis???? I heard this is the 4th major bureau. I might want to check into that.

660, declined in under 30 seconds. In the interests of full disclosure, I did have an account closed once.

Denied. As a student. It says this:

EXCESSIVE NUMBER OF RECENTLY OPENED ACCOUNTS

INSUFFICIENT NUMBER OF BANK CARDS WITH A BALANCE

EXCESSIVE NUMBER OF FINANCE INQUIRIES

My school has pulled my credit rating twice... This will bring it up to three... ouch.

Does the second one mean they want me to have prepaid cards?

I haven't opened any accounts for anything recently though, what does that mean I've opened too many??

Those are generic decline reasons. Most times lenders don't write their own and use standard reasons that don't really mean much. If you got declined for a student card, try a secured credit card or a card from your bank.

They probably didnt see any checking or savings accounts on your credit report that was opened. They probably also think your trying to overspend by excessive number of finance inquiries since your school pulled it twice.

My score is 686/702/718 for Tra/Equ/Exp but I have 12 hard inquires (I didn't know that it is very bad to have so many inquires before...). I really want to have a Discover card, however, it seems I will be declined in 0.01 second. Anybody here agrees if I can make it or maybe just wait for 1.5 more years until those inquires are gone...
