When WAMU went by the wayside i found myself stuck with this terrible card. I kept it cause I didnt want to lose the history on my credit report. Sometime last year I used to the card for an emergency and kept a balance on there for about 14 months at which point i smartened up and looked at my statement to see that they jacked my interest rate up to 29%. I quickly called and paid of the account after asking them to lower the rate to no avail. Soon after i paid it off, they lowered my limit to a mere $300.00. Naturally, i called to complain and ask why they would do this to someone that has never had a late payment, or collection on his credit report. Their response "you have too much credit" lol....they raised to limit back up to 5k which is still low compared to my other cards and I vow to never use the blasted card. So they will probably cancel it in a year or so for no activity but who cares. The only card i really need in my wallet is my AMEX :)

I have had this card since 1997 and love it. I pay it off each month, but they still give me cash back on all my purchases. A few yrs ago I put a $16k purchase on it and paid it in full the next month. They still gave me $275 for my cash back rewards! Love this card!

Before Chase converted this card over from WaMu it was awesome. My credit limit went up $1000 every 6 months and I had free access once a month to my credit score along with a variable rate that barely every went above 11.99%. I would also get balance transfer offers at rates as low as 2.99%. After the conversion my replacement card had an ugly design, my interest rate went up to 22% for no good reason, my credit limit hasn't gone up, and I haven't received a single balance transfer offer. My credit score has always been in the 700s. There is no reason to treat loyal customers like this. I paid the card off and keep it open because it is one of my older accounts. Bleh.
