I applied for the the cashback rewards card in Nov 2018 and was instantly approved for $25,000. I was shocked and thought I had double vision and saw to many zeros. My credit score at the time was around the 620's, nothing in collections, about $50000 in student loan debt but not showing as negative. Also a couple of older loans that are still showing as derogatory totaling about $5000. I also have a capital one card of $500 credit limit. My suggestion if u have collections is to pay off the newest, larger amount items first. I had a $206 medical bill on my account for 4 months and once I paid it off my score jumped 76 points, which put me at around the 620's for my credit score. NFCU has been wonderful to me so far, check out there auto buying program as worked wonders for me and got me a great vehicle at a much lower APR than anyone else. Some banks would say as low as 13%, NFCU said 8%. Good luck!

Great low rate with $0 annual fee.

Applied and was given a $25k credit limit instantly, which is great for this card since the low interest rate is good for large purchases. Navy Fed is an all around good company.

No Cash Rewards Visa reviews??
Noximus03 Cardholder

Fine, I'll put my own then. I applied for, and was instantly approved for $1,000. My scores are all mid 600's, and I had a Bankruptcy discharged in 2016. Literally just starting to rebuild. I've been an NFCU member for 20 years, but NEVER used NFCU for any reason other than to just have a second account open just in case. After 2 full years of my BK7 being discharged and some serious hard work in rebuilding a damaged credit score, I didnt agree with the initial $1,000 limit given my debt to income ratio (very low debt, very nice income $140k/yr),. So i sent them a message asking for a reconsideration and stated my case. They stood their ground and said $1k was all I could be approved for. I shot back asking if I decided not to activate my card, would it hurt my account. Wait about 3 hours and the reply comes back that I was approved for a $15,000 limit instead, and they apologozed for any inconvienience.

I know my credit history is checkered, but I've worked very hard to put it behind me and make the most out of the second chance. It was a confidence builder to know that NFCU had my back. I had to nudge them a little, but at least for once a human being reviewed my case and did what they thought was right. You cant put a price on that.

Of course u have an account w/Navy Fed. Today I applied for a cash rewards card with a 625 credit score (working on repairing credit) and was instantly approved w/ a 15,000 limit!! I've applied before and was denied so I think I'm headed in the right direction w the credit repair process.

Best CC I have

I actually started with an nRewards secured credit card with $500 limit.  After about 6 months to a year they refunded me the money and bumped my limit to 2500.  I submitted another increase request 6 months later and was bumped to 3300.

I have never had a good credit score due to past experiences, but they approved me and took care of me.  Now I have a GoRewards card.

Honestly, I love how fair they are, I even applied for an increase recently after it's been over a year.  My credit is a complete mess so I am sure it will get declined, but I love that they don't do the instant denials.  They review all requests by a person.

I love NFCU.

So...was it six months, or a year? Six months either way makes a difference.

Thank you! Awesome to hear they'll refund the deposite after about a year. Do they switch you from a nRewards to a GoRewards?

Good option for members with low scores

NFCU uses their own internal scoring system to award credit cards — which is most likely why I was approved for a card while most traditional credit card companies deny me. I have $100k in student loans from undergrad and graduate school combined, with about 3 months of nonpayment 2 years ago from a time when I was unemployed. That had seriously affected my credit, bringing me down to the 550s from 700. I also moved overseas, which meant I had to pay off the auto loan that was helping to rebuild my score. Additionally, since we're now overseas, my household dropped to one income as my spouse cannot find employment here due to language barriers etc. This makes us look unappealing to regular credit card companies. Thankfully, NFCU had our back!

At the time of application to NFCU, my credit score was 564; I was approved for the Visa GO Rewards with a $10,000 limit — lower than what others with similar scores seem to get, but it's better than nothing!

This site helped me decide to pull the trigger with my application, so I hope my review can be of assistance for someone in a similar situation!

That is awesome. This site was the reason I became a navy federal member. Glad they gave you a second chance. Sometimes that's all people need to get back on their feet. I really want to make them my main CU but they don't have a local branch were I live. I don't know any bank or CU that will issue an unsecured credit card with type of limit with scores in mid 500s. Again congrats and I hope your able to continue to build your credit back up.

I opened account 3-8-2018, 505 CS approved for Amex more rewards 3300 limit. Today is 3-19-18 and had cc just over 3 months approved for 2nd card signature visa with 5k limit. Just asked for CL increase on Amex and 24 hour messege. Will update if approved for CL, but anyway 3 months with Navy Fed and over 8k limit and my CS now is only 562. WOW
