Should I keep a credit card that could now drop my score?
I recently started monitoring my credit. My rating was poor. I paid off accounts I didn't even know I had. I disputed accounts that were erroneous and won and had them removed. In two months I got my score to improve almost 80 points. It is now listed in the mid-range of "fair." During my first visit to Credit Karma, I took one of the recommendations and applied for a secured credit card. According to the credit simulator it was going to help my score improve by about 25 points. Today I got an update from Credit Karma AND received my new card in the mail. My problem is that now my score has improved significantly and the credit simulator now shows that the card is going to DECREASE my score by 20 points. I've already paid the deposit on the card. Should I activate it and use it or should I just get rid of it?
