If the creditor is out of business and they have an item on your credit bureau report, submit a request to the bureau to have it removed from your account.  The bureau will contact the creditor for validation, if they are not successful in reaching the creditor, based on non-response, they will remove this from your account.   Although, be certain its the creditor that has made the entry and not a collections agent.   Even if the creditor is out of business, if they sold the debt to a collections firm, the collection firm is the person you should be making payment arrangements with.
