One of my credit cards has gone into collection in 2010 and I keep getting a notice every couple of months in Credit Karma about an account "has gone into collections".

IS IT YOUR CARD???

If it is your card, and it has gone into collections, then you have a negative mark on your credit score that is going to remain for a while now. The only way to clear it up is to get it paid in full, but the damage of having gone into collections will stay on your credit score for 7 years after it is paid in full.

This site does notifications of such adverse information so you can keep up on it and take action to clear it up.  If it was not your card, then you would have something to file a dispute on to clear it out.

Hope this helps.
