Great! Since 4/12
Helpful to 13 out of 13 people

I've had the card since 4/4/12.  0 deg. marks, 0 late payments, 3 year credit history.  Low credit score when I applied (can't remember, like 600 or less) and they approved me.  The increased my limit slowly over time.  Now it's $2500 but understand, I ddn't have great cr. score. Interest is lower (18.15%) compared to my other cards (23.24% and 19.90%).  Good for people starting out.  They've never call me for having a high balance or going over my limit. I sometimes pay off the entire balance.   Online srv is excellent & nice representatives. They don't harrass me like cut of card, call me, decrease my limit for being less than 30 days late.  Just let me build my credit with them w/o hassle.  I remember the companies that were good to me as I increased my score - 720 now.

If you have a newer card w a high interest rate, can go.  Getting rid of newer cards will improve your length of history.  Since they'd all be $0 utilization won't be a factor.  Now that I've told you what you wanted to hear, this is what you need to know - CLOSING ACCOUNTS IS CREDIT SUICIDE.  People with 850 have $50k+ worth of credit.  Cut up cards, forget them for a while, then reorder a new one.  Leave your cards ie at work.  Get used to being w/o them.

Closing accounts can leave you in Limbo - stuck in bad/poor credit land.  All balances at $0 might leave you stagnated with a poor score also.  0% utilization does not show you USING credit responsibly.  Utilization of 1-9% is where you want to live.

The loan worries me.  Double trouble if you have an emergency and have to use credit!  $12K is not as serious as it feels.  If you pay $1200, you will move to only utilizing 90%.  Then move to 80%.

You need additional cards to build credit so I disagree.  I had a secured card for 2 years.  After that, I applied and was approved for a 2 more cards.

Maybe we are missing the fine print.  Somewhere on this website it probably says, scores are for entertainment purposes only.  That's a joke but it's really not funny when we take actions based on these CK scores.  Not cool!

All you have to do is keep your credit balances between 1-9% all the time.  That's boosts your score like crazy.  If they report your balance as $0, that doesn't help.  It hurts.  After that, the only thing that can help is time.  Never be late.  EVER!

We have 65 FICO scores
Helpful to 2 out of 3 people

I did some research and found out that each person has a total of 65 FICO scores in addition to the Vantage Score's reported on CK. FICO scores are used by 90% of all creditors but if CK used the FICO score, which one would they use? Basically, FICO keeps coming out with different versions. Fico 4, Rico 8 and now there is a new version Fico 9. Then they have different FICO scores for mortgages, banks and autos. Just last week, I was very critical of CK but finding out the facts makes me less critical. Our FICO score is just like a version of windows. There's windows :-P, windows 8, windows vista etc. Just because a new model comes out, that does not mean the creditor has to buy it. Hence all the different credit scores. Each model weighs varied factors differently also so they will be dramatically different!

You have answered your own question, you paid them off.  Try leaving 1-9%.  No credit is bad credit

CK has my Trans Union score at 667 and my score is really 767!  That's a huge difference.  I'm working hard to get to 700 and I passed that a long time ago.  Weird and I think Dy is RIGHT!  I still love CK because without it I was have never gotten here but I'm very upset that it is inaccurate.
