Applied online. $500 CL. CK score 656... After speaking with a credit representative that same day, they triple the CL. Now It's $1,500. Very nice merchandise, a lot of famous designers, great online website... Of course the interest is high, but for us, the credit re builders, we look beyond that...We look the big picture.

Take the warnings seriously

I had this credit card for about 1 hour. I have been shopping at Bloomingdale’s for years and have spent thousands of dollars with them between cosmetics, fragrances, bedding, clothes, the works. I have almost always had a pleasant experience in store. I looked up the reviews for this card and did not heed the warnings thinking that my in store experience is the true sign of how my experience will be. I could not have been more wrong. When completing the application online it stated I needed to call into customer service and said I was calling for the Bloomingdale’s AMEX card. I have excellent credit, 100% payment history, no derogatory marks, and decent but not high income. The lowest credit limit I have ever been instantly approved for is $3500. The Bloomingdale’s credit card approved me for $500. I asked to confirm that this was the AMEX card. They declined stating I was approved for the Bloomingdale’s store card. This is the WORST approval I have ever received. Most purchases I have made are over $500 at Bloomingdale’s....so I guess they want me to buy socks? Despite this, I thought I would keep it thinking they would raise the credit limit in the future, and the points wouldn’t be bad. Well I spent an HOUR being transferred from one department to the next to get my account number so I could place an order online with the newly approved card. Each representative just wasted more time asking me questions that weren’t relevant. (Eg: what color and size jeans do I wear? - I wasn’t necessarily looking to buy jeans....I was looking into a Tom Ford fragrance). Finally after an hour, I spoke with a representative stating they are unable to provide account numbers over the phone. Then why did the prior representative transfer me to you stating you’re the only one that can release that information?! So! They offered to cancel my card, I eagerly agreed. This was a complete waste of my time, and I almost don’t want to do business with this company anymore. They have demonstrated their inability to assist customers over the phone in every department I was transferred to. And if this is the respect they give their loyal customers, then I think I can find better treatment elsewhere. HORRIBLE!
