Bankruptcy is one of the worst negative entries you can have on your
credit report and will likely remain there for 10 years. From the time you file bankruptcy, your
credit score will take a huge hit and you might find it more difficult to get loans or credit card approval for the first few years. But it won't last forever and as your credit report improves with
responsible actions towards healthy credit, so will your perceived creditworthiness to lenders and your access to credit.
After I declared Chapter 7 in 2003, it wasn't long before credit card offers began pouring in. Two companies agreed to replace my cards if I would pay the balances. My mortgage co. even offered to do a re-fi to a lower rate. Is this typical?"
