Applied for this card Oct 2011. CK Trans score of 701, two open credit cards (Visa & Discover), recently paid off auto loan, no other loans or lines of credit. No late payments or deroggatory items, but 57% credit utilization. Approved for $2000, 0% APR for 30 days on purchases, 20.24% APR. AmEx sent information on what items were factored in to the decison. Was advised that my Experian score at the time of approval for credit was 721.
Because the APR is so high, I will only be using this card for daily purchases such as gas and groceries. It's set up for auto pay within the grace period to avoid the high interest rate. I do not expect substantial benefit from the rewards program.

The rewards program sucks, I called and had them change it into the Blue Cash Everyday Card. I've had it for about 5 years, but haven't been using it due the rewards.

Your're right American Express does suck.. I didn't have the Blue card but did have the Optima. When I tried to use it while on a cruise in Hawaii to make a purchase it was denied. When I got back to the states I contacted them and they stated that they had lowered the credit line, no advance notification what so ever!!. The continued to say that they made a decision and standing by it. Now I never haver been late in my payments to them or any other account in my life. I closed the accouto make nt right then. Then they have the b***s to increase my interest rate on the closed account. To make matters worse when I checked my credit report they lowered my credit line every month. This makes it look like my highest balance exceeded the credit line. I filed a complaint with the AG's office to no avail. AE must have them in their back pockets. I also filed a dispute with the credit reporting company regarding these b******t practices. American Express - stick it in your ***.

We had this card and it had a starting limit over $10K. But when we actually started carrying a balance, they dropped our available credit to $7,500. So we stopped using it, and paid it down. We worked on it for over 2 years and got it under $5K. So we finally activated our cards that had just been sitting idle for 2 years, and within a week we were cut again to a limit of $5100. It was clear that they did not want us to actually use their card, so we cancelled it. We will pay it off and will never work with American Express again!
