Filing bankruptcy is never good, since it hurts your credit for ten years.  But sometimes it is the only option when all attempts to resolve a situation have failed.  And some debts cannot be discharged in bankruptcy such as student loans and unpaid taxes. The best source of advice on this would actually be a bankruptcy attorney,  Select one that offers a free initial consultation, then listen carefully to what you are told.
