What to do when an account was sold to another agency?
I had a medical bill originating Nov. 2009 and I never made a payment. I received a letter March 2015 stating that I could pay off this account at 60% of the original debt. I called to see what the debt was for I was told the original hospital and date of debt and also that the previous collection agency was no longer in business and this new company will be handling the account now. After this call, I checked my credit report and this was not on my report at all. A few weeks later when I checked, it was added to my report but the dates was from this year. Does this mean that the statue of limitations was reset? Do I have to wait an additional 7 years for it to fall off my report?
