Until it is paid in full, no matter how long that takes. There is NO SOL for student loans and they are not generally dischargable in bankruptcy, either.

It depends on whether the student loan is private or federal. A private student loan must be removed seven years from the DOFD. A federal loan on the other hand is not subject to the seven year rule and can remain until paid. That is the danger of defaulting on federal school loans. I urge you to do some reading on Federal student loans if that is what you have, there are many programs available to help people with these, I am not sure though if it may be too late in your case, not sure how old account is. Definitely do some reading on it.
