SOL depends on state

The longest a derogatory account can stay on your credit report is 7 years.  SOL depends on state you live in but most certainly 2005 is way past any state SOL.  However,  certain debts have no SOL.   If your  medical bills back in 2005 were to any government run facility (like state University hospital),  there is no SOL.   They can continue to seek payment until you die and then they get it from your estate.  NEVER PAY VERY OLD DEBT PAST SOL OR THE TIME TO COLLECT STARTS ALL OVER AGAIN.  SOL has nothing to do with your credit report.   Any collection account (paid, unpaid, past SOL)  stays on credit report at least 7 years.
