Prioritize bills.

I'm sorry to hear your wife is having a hard time finding a decent job.  This economy is not very good.

So, we have to think about prioritizing expenses.  The first is housing, including utilities and homeowner's or renter's insurance.  Second is food.  Third is transportation, including insurance.

Credit cards come at the bottom of the list and this is how they stand even in bankruptcy (been there), because they are "unsecured" loans.  Unsecured means there is nothing you purchase with a credit card that could be sold to recoup the money.

Try not using the credit cards until after they are paid off and see what expenses you can either eliminate or reduce, such as eating out, movies, etc.

If your wife has a hobby, could that bring in additional income?  Sometimes that does.  Has she checked with a Temporary Service?   Those jobs can turn permanent.

Forgot one important thing for both of you to do.  Go to annualcreditreport.com and get copies of all 3 credit reports for both of you.  Look them over very carefully and file disputes on all WRONG entries with the credit bureau reporting them.  They have to investigate and either verify or delete the disputed items.  This can help credit scores.

Hope this helps and wish you the best.
