Mortgage default - How long is it kept on credit report
Mortgage in default since 2008 - Another person is on the deed, but not the mortgage. I have no options to sell, short sale, deed in lieu of... nothing. Due to death threats, I was advised by police to abandon the place. Foreclosure has still not happened. How long will this trail me, by their inaction? What can I do?

You would need the person to sign over a quit claim deed, but sounds like this individual would probably want to harm you more than anything. Let's play it safe and find somewhere else "safe" to live if its possible.  You should be able to pick up the broken pieces rather quickly, by explaining your side of the story to potential creditors in the near future. God bless you! Be safe! Praying!
