If I cancel a cc will my score take a big hit? I want to cancel and pay off monthly.

Yes, it will take a hit.  Read the articles on this site so you can learn the truth about credit and what is needed to build a good score. You can acstually use a credit card to make a monthly bill payment and pay it off monthly.  I do that and my score rose.

I don't believe they are going to let you close a card that has a balance. You can call your lender and check though.
