Paying off an account in negative status does not remove the account. Negative information generally remains for 7 years from the time of the negative action. "Pay for delete agreements" should always be attempted prior to paying old negative accounts. Since you've already paid them, do some research on "goodwill letters" which are letters sent to the debt collector or creditor asking for forgiveness and removal of negative information from your reports. Sometimes "goodwill letters" work, but many times not.
