NO!!NO!!NO!!

Medical expenses are one of the biggest problems people have today.  One thing to consider is going to the hospital business office an ask about financial assistance.  Many hospitals do have an assistance program tmo help those with no medical insurance.

If that isn't happening where you live, another option that may be available is known as "medical bankruptcy" where you declare bankruptcy just because of the medical bills.  I knew of a log truck driver (they don't make that much money, really) whose first wife died after a long bout with cancer and left a big pile of medical bills.  He filed bankruptcy and was able to get on with his life afterwards without that stress of unpayable bills.

Yes, bankruptcy can leave a black mark on your credit for 10 years but the stress of bills you can't possibly pay can damage health, so which would be worse?

Of the options, try for the financial assistance program first and see what they may be able to write off so you can pay something on the bills without too much stress.  If they don't want to do that, mention that you may have to consider bankruptcy.  That "B" word can sometimes get a financial plan made really quick because, with bankruptcy they'll get nothing, but a workable payment plan will get them something.

Hope this helps.
