Concerning "average age of accounts" it would really hurt here with Vantage scores as they do not factor closed accounts into the equation. However, FICO scoring models do, so your average age of credit would not be hurt there and FICO scores are the important ones. So really no big deal there. What would hurt you with any scoring model is the loss of the available credit of the account and losing an account that reports open and in good standing. If you have many accounts, closing the card may not hurt you too much, but if you only have a couple of open cards, then closing it could hurt.
