The standard answer for these types of questions:

  • Pay your bills on time.
  • Reduce your credit utilization. Stop spending more than you make!
  • Don't apply for unnecessary credit.
  • Don't reduce credit limits on cards.
  • Don't cancel cards.
  • Don't let the credit card companies cancel for non use. Use your card occasionally.
  • Keep your card balances between 1% and 20% of the credit limits. There is no need to pay them off completely. In fact, paying them off completely is detrimental to your credit.
  • Monitor your credit. If something is in error dispute it!

Over time your credit score will increase. Once you see the increases you will have to ambition to keep improving it.

Must disagree with one aspect of mdtaylorim's response  to not pay cards in full.  DO pay the "Total Amount Due" as shown on the statement so you don't have to pay interest on the balance.

One way to find out things you might do to improve credit score is to go to "Credit Simulator" on this site and play the "what if" game with it, seeing online what could happen if you make certain financial choices.  This is a great help since you don't have to suffer the harsh realities of bad decisions in real life.

FYI-We can't see what your score or records are (which is good) so can't help on that aspect.  One thing you can do right now is go to annualcreditreport.com and get copies of all 3 credit reports.  Look them over carefully and file disputes on any erroneous items (not things that are yours but you don't like) and file the dispute with the credit bureau reporting the error.  They then have to investigate and either verify or delete the item.  Humans enter the data and humans make mistakes.
