How does the letter score system work?
I applied for senior community housing, was turned down, and then informed that Experian had given a D as a credit score. I am not familiar with a leter-grading system. Could you please explain what that is and why I was given that grade? Thanks.

The grading system is broken down based on creditworthiness and is similar to a report card. Higher credit scores would lead to better grades and lower scores would mean lower grades.

  • 750-850 - A - Excellent
  • 700-749 - B - Good
  • 640-699 - C - Fair
  • 580-639 - D - Poor
  • 300-579 - F - Very Poor
