Does it hurt your credit score to pay off a credit card in full
Does it hurt your credit score to pay off a credit card in full with no defaults at any time and close the account? The account is about 7 years old, would closing that history out hurt me?

This might be different for a loan but I'm not the one who closed the account, the creditor did after I made the last payment so why should my credit report drop almost 50points cause of that?

It only hurts when you close the account.  Once you close it, you lose all the good history, both payment history and credit history.  It does not hurt to pay it off or pay it in full, just don't close it.
