company buy out
I had a debt and filed BR at least 7 years ago and the company sold debt to someone else and then again. It still stays on my credit like its a recent debt. Can they do that?

Find copies of your Bankruptcy

if the original accout is listed there then they may have illeagally sold it.  If the debt is not listed then they may have sold it prior to your filing and it didn't get listed on your final bakruptcy filing.

if it is listed, mail a copy of your bankruptcy along with a validation letter to the Credit reporting agency.  Google "Validation Letter" for a template and more info on how they work.

That should rectify any inconsistancies.

Good luck
