Go to www.annualcreditreport.com and "opt-out" for any promotional items.  That will prevent the credit bureaus from selling your information or allowing potential creditors to do soft pulls.  If I don't have the right website, just Google "opt-out" and you'll find it.

I believe they can do a soft credit pull anytime for the purpose of offering you their services or trying to get you a "deal" on your next vehicle purchase. The only time they should be able to do a hard credit pull is when you're about to finance a new car.
