Lowe's Credit Card

Initial limit of $500. After no lates, low util., and perseverance, I am now at $8,500. I've noticed they give much larger CLI after you've been with them a year or so. I rarely use this card and barely like Lowe's. You get a 5% discount on everything! Whenever I have a home to remodel, I am sure this card will be taken advantage of; they are always offering some time of 0% for 6 mos or so. :-). Push the love button every three months or so. I do it a lot as they are only soft inquiries, which do not reflect poorly as they are an existing creditor on your CR.

Excellent customer service and the 0% for a year was a great promo! Cashback is easily redeemable as a statement CR.

Neiman Marcus Credit Card

Although Neiman Marcus is a very pricey store, their products are extremely high quality. Opened this card with a $750 limit @ 23.99%. I know the limit will increase over time! HSBC is very stingy with CLI as they typically only issue them once a year in $200-$300 increments. Credit score was around 670 when this account was opened

I think that the difference probably has to do with which credit bureau CK pulls to give you your score. BTW, request an increase every 3-4 months! Be sure not to use any additional credit obtained, but remember... higher limits and low util translate into a great score! :-) I'm at $4,900 on JCP after a little over two years of being a cardholder! AND I have a zero balance! :-)

Walmart Credit Card

Got this card in 2010. Initial limit was $800. I've never missed a payment, but have occassionally maxed it out to buy electronics such as a flat screen TV/laptop for school.  I've saved A LOT of interest as a result. The first year or two, my limit only increased by $75 every four months. Recently, however, I've received increases of $500 and $800, which have brought my limit up to $2,400. Got a zero balance and I HOPE they will preapprove me for the Discover version soon!! Seems like they only offer the all-purpose version of the card when you use it the least! Oh, ALSO... cash advance option is AWESOME if you need some quick cash at a lower-than-most credit cards APR.

Banana Republic Card

Great card! I initially had this card as a way to keep my utilization down. I charged $30-40 here and there, always being sure to pay on time, usually in full, and that took my CL for the BR store card from $400-$2000 within two years. Additionally, I logged into my online account this past month to find that I had been 'pre-approved' for the BR Visa! YES! They upped the limit to $3,000, and I got a new Visa. The con is that purchases outside of BR only get one point, and the APR is 23.99% with no room for decrease as explained by customer service to me. LOL.... BTW, BR does have AMAZING discounts with use of their credit! I always get bday coupons, which require no minimum purchase and random $10 -$20  rewards for simple things (like agreeing to receive e-statements).

Got the Paypal Plus Platinum Mastercard. This card seems reasonable. if you only use it for gas/restaurants, the point system equates to 2.5% cash back, which can be conveniently deposited into you Paypal account for withdrawal to checking ;-). Approved with $2,000 limit at 18.24%. FICO of 674 (per the required disclosure provided by GECRB). I can use this for books as a college student! :-)

Capital One® QuicksilverOne® Cash Rewards Credit Card

Second Capital One card.... ONLY $500 limit. LOWEST. I love the 0% for 12 months, and the 2% cashback with no AF. However, this June my interest will skyrocket to 20.9%. I like Capital One as far as terms are concerned. However, their limits SUCK! My other Capital One card is at a $1,300 limit after like six years of being with them, four of the last which I have NEVER missed a payment or gone over the limit. Btw, interest on that one is 5.9%. If they don't get generous with the $500 limit card soon, I will close! ;-)

This was one of the first cards I got. Since 2006, my limit has barely budged from $500-$1300. However, they did lower my APR from 28.99 to 13.99 and my annual fee from $79 to $39. If it weren't for the age of the account, I'd close it. They are stingy with limits (this is one of my lowest!) and refuse to budge on the AF even though I am a prime-credit customer! Mine is a "Gold". I recently went on an app spree and app'ed for the 'Platinum'... I was approved with a $300 CL; I called immediately and canceled. I can't use a card with a $300 limit! ugh! Customer service isn't that great either! They will increase your limit by $200 a YEAR IF you call in and request so. They're worse than Capital One. You're better off opening a store card from GECRB with a higher limit if you're looking to build credit.

That is what they did to me! The rate was 18.24 on the online disclosure, but when I rec'd the card, it was 23.99%. Eh, I just won't carry a balance!
