I applied for a Oportun card because I like Visa, my credit score was about 600. I was approved for 1000.00 credit limit. I am so grateful for my Oportun card. I signed up for reminders on the payment date and get a text a few days before it’s due. Thank you Oportun Visa.

I applied, got approved and still haven't received the card. they keep sending me text and emails to activate the card. I called the phone number to let them know, and they said, there's nothing they could do. The customer service lady also stated that, I needed to call customer service. This makes absolutely NO SENSE!!

They do not clearly define there policy's and look to be purposefully confusing their customers. They want to explain away any misunderstandings. But the truth is that they are a shady company whose practices are borderline nefarious. Do not use/trust Oportun Visa C.C.
Same lady voice every time I've called. No other departments available. Tells me call back in 1 hour every time. Cannot login to my account. Only wants payment over phone. This is a scam trying to hustle me for late fees I think.
Had the card for less then a year and they closed my account for fraud. But couldn't show me proof. Then when I called they didn't have an explanation on why they closed it and let me know I had to pay off the balance

I have this card or I should say had this card for 14 months. Initially it was fine until I received a letter stating that since I had not used my card in 3 months, they were canceling my account? Keep in mind, they had recently been asking me for updated income to increase my credit line, totally unsolicited from me. I provided the information as requested thinking I may see an increase. Silly me! So I contacted customer service and after several minutes they came back to tell me it was indeed canceled, and I was not eligible for reinstatement? Also try calling back every month to see if I may be reapproved? I almost can't believe what I'm hearing. Isn't the object to pay off your balance? Anyway, I told them thank you and I had zero interest in doing business with them again in the future. I highly recommend staying far away from this card!

Didn’t even use the card one time and have been trying to close my account for 4 months now. What an absolute joke
I had this card when I lived in Ohio. We moved to Colorado, and during the move nearly maxed out the $500 balance we had accrued. On August 7th, I made a payment of $455.70, the entire balance. On August 8th, I noticed that the payment hadn’t been taken from my bank, nor did my online account reflect a pending payment. I again made a payment of $455.70. As of August 10th, BOTH payments posted. My bank account was debited $911.40, and my Oportun account was -$455.70. On 8/12 I called Oportun and explained the situation. They said to wait 30 days for a refund. 30 days! I waited. On 9/15 I called back because I never received a refund. They said to call back in 5 business days. I argued what good it would do to call back when I’ve already waited 30 days, but I acquiesced. I called back on 9/25. I was routed to a supervisor who informed me that a ticket was never created and I would have to wait an additional 30 days. They claimed I need “confirmation numbers” of my payments to receive a faster refund, even though my online account reflected the double payment, which they also confirmed, As of 9/28, I still have yet to receive a refund. To say I’m disappointed in their customer service would be a vast understatement.
They closed my account with no warning and no communication. I found out about it through Credit Karma. They never called, emailed, text. What kind of company does this? When I called them they said they closed it because I hadn't used the card enough. Ridiculous
Terrible way to do business. I got a $500 cc with them less than 6 months ago. I purposely did not use it...as I was planning to do so for my birthday, next month. SMH! Thank God I have alerts via credit karma letting me know when there's anything new/updated on my credit reports. This is how I found out...Oportun Web Bank just closed my account. No letter. No call. No email...nothing from them. So I logged onto my account and chatted. Rep said they closed it due to inactivity and I would have to reapply again if I wanted to. This is crazy. I was doing the responsible thing and not using it right away...as I had plans to use it specifically on my bday...not even 6 months after opening account. Don't waste your time with this Oportun. They caused my score to decrease a few points due to them CLOSING MY ACCOUNT. Zero communication. Zero heads up. What is I went to use that card as planned and denied at the register cause they closed it. Be careful with your credit and I highly recommend u get a card from a better company.
