Was this a call or on your report?

If it was a phone call, you should be receiving a written notice within 10 days (they have 5 days after calling you to present it in writing).  If they call again, tell them to send the notice to you in writing, and that you do not conduct business over the phone.

If it is on the listings on this site, order all three of your credit reports and go over them carefully.  You are not going to do anything until after getting the reports.  Anything on the report that doesn't agree with what you know is true (even the late payments, etc that you know happened) that item is to be disputed.

It's not unusual for errors to be on credit reports, but it is up to us to make sure our own reports are correct.
