Depends on why account closed

If a loan or credit card is closed because they charged off the debt or sold account to collection agency,  that is always negative on credit report.   If closed because you paid off loan in full but had late payments,  that will be negative on credit report.   If you paid off loan witout ever being late or missing a payment,  the account is closed but is not negative.   Once an installment loan like car payment or personal loan is paid off it automatically closes. Your payment history won paid off account will determine if negative or neutral.
