What is better: Letting a new debt go to collections or making monthly payments on older debt?
I have 40k in student loan debt currently...my credit is very poor...and now I have a new $1,500 rental car debt I can keep off my record, but I'll have to pay them $100 a month. Is it better to let this debt go to collections and pay $100/month towards the 40k (and improve the credit score), or keep this $1,500 from going to collections? (I can only afford $100/per month)
