Most auto lenders will use an "auto version" of FICO scores. As to what score is needed, different lenders have different requirements, but for the most part there is an auto lender out there for just about every credit situation, what differs is the interest rates. People with bad credit get bad deals when it comes to loans. There are more than just scores that go into a lender's decision. Your overall credit profile is just as important as scores, previous loan history, your income, length of time with current employer, debt to income ratio, amount of down payment, age and mileage of auto to be financed and so on. I strongly advise you to do some serious reading about credit and work on building yours to a good point before trying to finance any major purchases.
