To raise score: better to throw $1k at credit card balances (high debt) or medical collections?
My score is hovering around 600. Have high balances to limits on credit cards and 3 medical collection accounts. I could pay $1k on credit card (high balance for long time) or pay off all 3 medical collection accounts. Which would raise my score more?

Pay off collections first

Explore your options on how to pay them off and deal with getting the derogitory remarks off your report.  Offer and compromise with derog removal.  do a little homework and you can save a little money and benifit your score. explore the blogs and articles for more info.

Then lower your credit usage to 30% or less.

Those steps in that order will raise your score considerably

Good luck
