Because every credit granting agency has a different way of computing a credit score.  Some use the information from one of the three credit bureaus in making their lending decision and some go to myfico.com and get that score.

Credit Karma is not a credit bureau but a teaching site with the focus on teaching people about credit and how to improve theirs. The credit score you see here is based on partial information and is an approximate score so you can see (using the financial tools here) what could happen to your score when you make certain financial decisions.
