Student Loan Refi vs Auto Loan: Which First?
I'm looking to refinance my student loans so I can remove my cosigner; my car is also on its way to the junkyard in the sky, and I will need to buy a new (used) car, so I will need to get an auto loan as well. My car is still running, although the mechanic said it could stop at any time. My question is, in terms of getting the best rates for both refinancing and the auto loan. which should be done first? I'm leaning toward the refinancing since it is not new debt, and then establishing payment history for about 3 months before the auto loan (as long as my current car holds up). Thanks for any advice!
