Impact of Voluntary Lease Surrender?
My husband and I leased a new vehicle for him in September 2015. He became seriously ill in February and I left my job to care for him in March. He passed away in May. I have been trying (unsuccessfully) to transfer/sell this vehicle since February by listing on Autotrader, LeaseTrader and locally. I now find myself stuck with a car I didn't want, do not like and honestly, can't afford much longer. I have considered trading it in but I am looking at about $10k in negative equity! I am ready to surrender it to the lease company but I'm wondering how bad of an impact it will have on my credit score. I am currently in the high 700s and hate to ruin that but I'd hate more to eat ten grand!
