First, Understand that the info on

your credit report are not things that you "Give permission" to be there.

First: Get a copy of your actual credit report. You can get 1 free copy a year from each of the Credit Bureaus at AnnualCreditReport .com   I suggest that you get one copy now and start the process,  Then in 3 or 4 months get another copy to monitor the results,  Then again in 8 or 9 months get the third one to see what has updated.

Now if there are accounts and collections that you do not recognize as yours, then you need to get the accounts "validated".  You do that by writing a letter for each account to the Credit bureau.  Google  "Validation Letter' for a template and more info on how they work.  The validation letter will require that the collection agency prove that the account is yours and that they the legal right to collect it.  anything that can not be validated will automaticly be removed from your report.  once an account is validated then you will have to make arrangements to deal with those accounts.  read up on the articles here on 'CK on how to deal with those.

Good luck
