how to pay off large loans faster?
i declared bankruptcy august 2011. everything is clean except my student loans. i'm not delinquent on any, but i have 90-100k in debt. two big loans of like 35k are most of it, and then small loans here and there 2k, 5k, etc. The smaller loans are also federal and have a lower interest rate, so my plan of attack is to get rid of the higher interest private loans first. problem is those are the ones with the larger balances also. What's a good strategy? I want to pay off as fast as I can to at least cut the total debt in half and make my monthly payments more reasonable. Also want to save on interest. I've thought about consolidating but I don't want to do that with the federal loans since the rates are much better than what a consolidation loan rate would probably be. And I don't have a lot of large private loans, just a few, and I don't know if consolidating would be worth it.
