Thas a loaded question

First educate yourself on what good credit is and how to maintain it. There is a lot of information here on CK in the articles and advice sections. Thats what CK is about, Its an Educational site set up by the Credit Reporting agencies to help you learn how to take care of your credit.

Second. Be careful in applying for and maintaining credit card accounts. That is the biggest factor in your credit report and score. Be sure to make ALL payments on time. Thats the other big factor.

Third, Pay attention to your credit reports and info on your reports to make sure that the info reported is accurate and act swiftly when something isn't correct.

The most important number in your life is your credit score. It will be with you until the day you die. It will have an effect on you every time you want to buy a car, a house, get a new cedit card, etc. It effects the Interest rates and terms of loans, and that can be thousands of dollars over the term of a loan.

And Remember, Your credit score isn't a reflection of how much money you have or make, it about how well you manage it.

Personally I think the number one factor is to always, always, always pay on time no matter how many credit cards you have and no matter how much of your total credit you are utilizing.  Don't miss a single payment ever, even if you have to scrimp somewhere else and eat rice and beans for a month.  Adhere to this one rule and the other factors will take care of themselves over time.
