I'm not sure what the statute of limitations is on tax leins, but you could assume at least 7 years based on the other SOL. First step is paying it, next step is waiting patiently while ensuring that you pay your taxes and make on time payments on everything else moving forward.

Any public record is likely to remain on your credit report for 10 years.
