you need to contact ssa, and they will only red flag your account so others can't get your information from ssi. If your trying to block people from accessing your credit report sign up for identity theft, you can block your reports there.

Don't be carrying your Social Security card with you since you need to actually show it very few times in your life. Just keep the card locked up someplace safe.. And check all three credit reports once a year to make sure everything is correct.  Nothing else really needs to be done.
