Only if the Auto Loan is in your name and they ( the auto loan company ) report the account to the credit bureaus.

The method in which you pay the loan does not matter. The loan itself will help your credit if it is reported to the credit bureaus. Not all lenders report to the credit bureaus and some lenders may only report to one credit bureau.
