Collections acct and credit score
I have a collections account from a medical bill from 2011 that's listed as "open" on mt credit report. Im trying to raise my credit score to get a low interest rate on a vehicle that I plan to purchase after Jan 1, 2018. Will paying this off increase my credit score or drop It? They told me they will not remove it from my credit report, but that they WILL mark it as paid in full. I'm scared to try paying it right now because I made a payment on another old acct and it dropped my score nearly 100 points! Apparently I "woke up" an old bill and it backfired. That bill that i woke up is now getting removed so my score SHOULD go back up, but this company insists that all they will do is mark it as paid in full...

Thanks four your help!!!
