Collection Agency Keeps Adding/Removing Account?
Last month I disputed an account with portfolio recovery, and it was not removed from my report by the cra, simply updated. Since my dispute they have been consistently removing and then immediately re-adding the same account to the credit bureaus, making it appear as if these entries are recent, although the account created date remains the same. Can they do this?

It may not necessarily be Portfolio Recovery who is making the entries.  I had similiar and found it disturbing when I saw the new date.   Two credit bureaus removed the entry, it remains on the third and they reflect the date of the dispute although the original date is still in the details.  It appears that date you are viewing is the "last updated"   It will have not impact on your overall score and the clock will continue to run on the original filed date and that is the date a creditor will see.

What was the reason(s) for the dispute in the first place? Was for the legitimate reasons like inaccuracies, ID theft, it's age? or were you hoping it gets removed just because you file a dispute? If the account (any bad marks) was reported correctly? at times it would be better just leave it alone and let it ages out or you can dispute it like so many people suggested, sure you might have some luck to get them removed but you also are taking chances of stirring up the hornets nest. The removal date remine the same, 7 1/2 year from Date Of Fisrt Delinquency regardless, however they can report/update every months or remove/reopen every months to make it look like a new collection, or worse by file a lawsuit even tho it maybe long past the SOL, if you don't show up? They automatically get a default judgment against you... Keep in mind that you are dealing with collection agencies, most of them don't have much if anything to lose by f^*king with you.
