Collection account on my record as authorized user??
My elderly grandmother added me as an authorized user on her Sears account a few years ago. I purchased necessities for her home and helped her with the payments. The interest was so high on her card so i was able to close her account and Sears lowered the APR to 9% and it became Citibank with automatic payments. Last December she passed away and there was a balance of $1,100 on her card. I called Sears to let them know of her passing and that the payments should not automatically come out of the bank account anymore. I have nothing to do with my grandmothers estate nor am I going to pay off her card when my stingy uncles swooped in for their piece of her estate. So now the account is in collections and it's showing up on my report. I had previously tried calling Sears and Citibank but neither will talk to me because it is not my account yet it's on my report! So frustrating! Any ideas on how to fix this? Thank you!
