Co-Sign vs. "Added for credit reporting purposes", effect on credit score
I ruined my credit a few years ago in college and now am trying to get back on track. I am in the process of getting a loan at the local credit union and while I asked for a co-signed loan with my mother, the banker ran it completely under her name and said she would add me to the loan for "credit reporting purposes" so that "I would get credit for the payments as well". Has anyone heard of this or know the difference between the two in regards to it helping my credit score? Obviously the whole purpose of this is to start raising my own score so I want to make sure the loan accomplishes that. Thanks!
