Not a wise choice.

One factor in a good credit score is how much AVAILABLE credit you have, not how many cards.  Add up the credit limits on the cards you are planning to close and you may realize that not having that amount of available credit is going to really hurt your score, and it will.

Just use the cards once in a while for a small purchase or spread out normal regular household bills among the cards, paying them off every month, and you may actually find your credit score improving.
