My credit is very sketchy.  About 6 years ago when I was 19 I defaulted on a few things including a new car.  Since then I am never late on anything that has to do with credit.  My credit score has slowly risen to a 630 and I was unsure if I would get approved for this card.

After I did the application, and sent verification that I'm in school, they called me two days later and told me I was approved for $500.  I hear this is a great credit card to improve your credit so I am excited!

DO NOT APPLY FOR A DISCOVER IT CARD!! Helpful to 0 out of 2 people

My twin sister and I will both be college freshmen in the fall. In order to start building our credit history we both applied for the Discover It Student Card. We applied on the same day with virtually the same information. Neither of us have had credit cards before. We worked at the same grocery store for the same amount of time. We have the same address, birth date, etc. Essentially, in the eyes of a credit card company, we have identical credit histories. My sister’s application was approved. My application was denied due to “insufficient credit history.” They claimed that I had to get a co-applicant.

I called the supposedly “stellar” customer service, and I was transferred from department to department. I was forced to explain my situation repeatedly and still no one was able to give me a straight answer as to why my TWIN sister with the SAME credit history was approved while I was denied. All the representatives refused to review my application again. They just kept saying I had “insufficient history” and needed a co-applicant. They refused to tell me why my sister didn’t need one even when I had her authorize them to provide us with the information. the New Accounts representative even had both our applications in his hands while talking to me on the phone, and he still refused to acknowledge that we had the same credit history. My father has had a Discover card for a while, but needless to say my entire family is leaving Discover for good.

I gave this card a chance because it’s supposed to be the best student card out there. Instead, I got horrible treatment and evasive representatives who don’t care about potential customers at all.

This was my first credit card ever. Got it my sophomore year with only a year of student loans as history, credit limit was $700. My two year mark is coming up in a month and my limit is now $2000. I am a heavy amazon shopper and I love you can use your rewards easily on their website.

Good credit card

This was my first credit card, I got approved for this card with no credit history and a limit of $500. I have had this credit card for over a year and I have not had any problems with it. I gave it four stars because I always stay within my credit limit and pay on time and so far my  credit limit has only been increased to  $1,000.Other than that it is a good credit card.

I was accepted

I am currently a junior in the nursing program at an Indiana school. I have applied before after getting letters in the mail but have always been declined. Since I have never had anything to help me establish credit I thought having a credit card would be a great place to start. Finally after getting another letter in the mail I decided to apply again. Much to my surprise I was accepted! It says ill get my card in 7 days. We shall see!!!!! I believe it when I see it!
