Consumer Credit Card Debt Increases By Double Digits In Nearly Every Region In Second Half Of 2009

Credit Karma (<a href="https://www.creditkarma.com">www.creditkarma.com</a>), the consumer's advocate for demystifying credit, today released its U.S. Credit Score Climate Report with trend data for the second half of 2009. Amongst consumers with a credit card, credit card debt increased 18% nationally from July. The Philadelphia Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) had the highest increase in credit card debt, with consumers racking up 40% more in credit card debt since July. In addition, consumers in five states increased their credit card balances by more than 30%.

Consumer Credit Card Debt Increases In November In Most U.S. Regions

Credit Karma (<a href="https://www.creditkarma.com">www.creditkarma.com</a>), the consumer's advocate for demystifying credit, today released its U.S. Credit Score Climate Report with trend data for November 2009. Amongst consumers with a credit card, credit card debt increased 4% nationally from October and 14% since June. The San Francisco and Kansas City Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSAs) were the only regions where consumers with a credit card paid down their debt. In San Francisco and Kansas City, credit card debt declined by 4% and 9% respectively.

Consumer Credit Card Debt Increases In October

Credit Karma (<a href="https://www.creditkarma.com">www.creditkarma.com</a>), the consumer's advocate for demystifying credit, today released its U.S. Credit Score Climate Report with trend data for October 2009. Amongst consumers with a credit card, credit card debt increased 14% nationally from September. The Midwest and Northeast regions showed the highest increases in credit card debt with 16% and 17% respectively, and Philadelphia consumers represented the highest gain for a Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA), increasing debt by 28% in October.

Consumers Nationwide Pay Down Credit Card Debt In September

Consumer credit card debt decreased this month. In addition, from June to September credit card debt decreased by 4% nationally and four states experienced double digit decreases in credit card debt quarter over quarter.

Credit Karma (<a href="https://www.creditkarma.com">www.creditkarma.com</a>), the consumer's advocate for demystifying credit, today released its U.S. Credit Score Climate Report with trend data for June 2009. During the March 2009 to June 2009 time period, Credit Karma saw an increase in credit scores across all geographies; however, for the third straight month the percent of credit scores rising has tapered off and more consumers are seeing their credit scores remain stable. 38% of consumer credit scores have gone up, 28% have gone down, and 34% remained the same. The current average U.S. consumer credit score is 674, which is the same as in May.

During the February 2009 to May 2009 time period, Credit Karma saw an increase in credit scores across all geographies; however, for the second straight month the percent of credit scores rising has tapered off and a considerable percentage of credit scores are decreasing or staying the same. 39% of consumer credit scores have gone up, 29% have gone down, and 32% remained the same. The current average U.S. consumer credit score is 674.

During the January 2009 to April 2009 time period, Credit Karma saw an increase in credit scores across all geographies; however, the percent of credit scores rising has tapered off and the percentage of credit scores decreasing is rising. 41% of consumer credit scores have gone up, 29% have gone down, and 30% remained the same. The current average U.S. consumer credit score is 677.

Credit Karma (<a href="https://www.creditkarma.com">www.creditkarma.com</a>), a pro-consumer credit score tracking and management service, today released its U.S. Credit Score Climate Report with trend data for March 2009. During the December 2008 to March 2009 time period, Credit Karma saw an increase in credit scores across all geographies and most age groups. 43% of consumer credit scores have gone up, 27% have gone down, and 30% remained the same. Of the scores that increased, the average credit score rose 14 points during the time period. Of the scores that decreased, the average credit score dropped 14 points. The current average U.S. consumer credit score is 678.
