Credit Karma today announced it expanded its U.S. operations with a new office in Charlotte, North Carolina. The personal finance company plans to establish a long-term presence on the East Coast.“We were drawn to Charlotte as its vibrant atmosphere and economic growth attracts talented people from all over the region. Credit Karma also has a strong following in the Southeast, so it made a lot of sense for us to be here,” said Credit Karma Chief Technology Officer Ryan Graciano.Credit Karma plans to hire as many as 100 employees, mostly in software engineering and other technical roles, in the coming years. The Charlotte office will focus on Credit Karma Tax™, the company’s always-free online tax preparation service. The office will also employ a dedicated member support team to service the millions of Americans expected to file their federal and state tax returns through Credit Karma Tax in the 2017 tax season.In 2016 Credit Karma entered the more than $2 billion online tax preparation industry with its acquisition of Cary, North Carolina-based AFJC Corporation, a provider of online tax preparation, filing solutions and related services for individuals, certified tax preparers, financial institutions and affinity marketers.
